There are four categories of membership detailed on these pages.

All invitations are at the discretion of the Board of Governors.
FULL-ACCREDITED MEMBERSHIP
1. Criteria
The current criteria for Full Membership is as follow:
1.1 The applicant must be seconded for membership by:
i. An existing fully accredited member of five years good standing.
ii. An experience Film Producer from FIPAG
iii. Alternatively, a Patron member of the Association of five years good standing can second. (Proposers see item 2 for proposal guidance)
1.2. The applicant must be Ghanaian born or have lived and worked in Ghana for a period of not less than three years prior to the Proposal.
1.3. The applicant must be actively a Film Crew and not retired.
1.4. The applicant must have completed at least three well-photographed feature films which have been shown publicly in the cinemas, online, market or two different transmitted television drama productions*. A combination of the above is also acceptable. In all cases, the applicant must carry sole credit for the work submitted. *A qualifying television production is a feature-length drama, or a longer drama production such as one screened over several parts but retaining a single theme, storyline and principal characters. Multiple episodes of the same series count as one production of the required five.
1.5. The applicant must carry sole credit.
1.6. Upon acceptance of the nomination by the Board of Governors, the applicant will be required to submit 2 x 10-minute sections, of two different qualifying productions.
1.7. In order to qualify for full membership, your work must demonstrate creativity and an appreciation of the art of cinema and more than just professional competence. Particular attention will be paid to lighting for differing conditions, both interior and exterior, studio, location and visual effects and to how composition and camera movement have been used to enhance the story and mood of the piece.
1.8. The submission material will be viewed by the governing body of the Association and a subsequent discussion will take place following which the applicant will be informed as to whether his/her application has been successful. In some instances, further material for screening may be requested.
1.9. Successful applicants will be awarded a certificate together with a membership ID card which must be collected in person from an officer of the Association. Only after collection of the said certificate will the applicant be entitled to use the letters “FICAG” after his or her name. On-screen credits, the initials FICAG must be written in capital letters with no stops between them i.e. FICAG. There should also be no c comma between your name and the accreditation e.g. First Name Last Name FICAG.
1.10. This membership has full voting rights and currently carries a joining fee of GHc100, plus an annual subscription fee (Dues) of GHc120 P.A, payable through Acct Number.
2. PROPOSERS – Criteria and Guidance on Proposing Candidates for Full Membership
2.1 The PROPOSER must be a Fully Accredited Member of the Association of 5 years good standing.
2.2 It is the Proposers responsibility to obtain a SECONDER for the application. The seconder can be a Full Accredited Member of the Association or a Patron Member of 5 years good standing.
2.3 Prior to submission The PROPOSER must also:
• Ensure that his/her seconder are confident that the work of the Candidate is eligible in accordance with the Association’s criteria (see section 1) and of a sufficiently high standard.
• Be happy to testify to the candidate’s good character
• Ensure that the candidate is aware of the aims and objectives of the Association and his or her responsibilities as a member, particularly the financial involvement which currently is as follows: Full Membership GHc100 and subscription fee of GHc120 p.a.
• Help guide the applicant through the submission process
2.4 Post Submission
Should the Candidate be accepted to membership, for an initial period, the Proposer would be responsible for encouraging them to take an active part in Association’s Events; accompanying them whenever possible and introducing them to their fellow members.
Should the Candidate be unsuccessful, the Proposer would be responsible for passing back constructive comment from the screening panel and explaining to the candidate that they could not reapply until they had undertaken sufficient new work.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Associate membership is available to all who have undertaken outstanding work in feature production which does not fit into the full membership criteria. The applicant must be ordinarily resident in Ghana and be nominated for membership by an existing member and agreed at a Board meeting of the Association. Associate members are entitled to use the wording ‘Associate FICAG’ or ‘Assoc. FICAG’ after their names on correspondence and CV’s but not on-screen credits. Only these wordings can be used and no further derivation is permitted. An Associate will not be entitled to nominate, vote or partake in decisions making for the Association. An Associate will not be entitled to become an Officer of the Association. However, on occasion, an Associate can, if selected, attend Board meetings at the discretion
of the board. This membership currently carries a subscription of GHc180 p.a. payable through Association Account Number.
Criteria for Proposing Candidates for Associate Membership of the Association
The Proposer must be a Member of the Society in good standing. On putting forward a candidate the Proposer must ensure the Candidate is eligible in accordance with the Association’s Associate Membership criteria above. The Proposer must also ensure that the Candidate is aware of the aims and objectives of the Association and his or her responsibilities as a member, particularly the financial involvement which currently is as follows: GHc180 p.a. payable through Association’s Account Number.
Guidance for Members Proposing Candidates for Associate Membership
On submitting a Candidate, the Proposer should complete an Associate Membership Proposal Form and include a complete list of credits including awards, along with any other information they deem relevant. These should be sent to [email protected]
Should the Candidate be accepted to membership, for an initial period, the Proposer would be responsible for encouraging them to take an active part in Association Events; accompanying them whenever possible and introducing them to their fellow members.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
Honorary Membership is awarded by the Board of Governors to existing Full and Associate Members who have reached the age of 70 and/or have retired. Their rights of membership would not change. This membership is given free.
PATRON MEMBERS
This membership is open to companies directly associated with Film Crew. Companies may apply for Patron membership and if considered eligible by the Board an invitation will be sent. Patron
Companies shall nominate a named representative to attend the Association’s activities but would have no voting or electoral rights.
Companies should have a minimum of 3 years trading in the industry and need to provide at least names of 3 Film Crew they have worked with.

FRIENDS OF THE SOCIETY
This category of membership is only for those whose work once involved close ties with the Association and have since retired, or who have offered or continue to offer help to the Association outside of their normal operation or, in general, support the work of the Film Crew though not part of the industry. However, the membership is not open to existing service company heads or managers, or crew members. Friend’s membership is given solely at the discretion of the Board of Governors and currently involves an annual donation of Ghc200 payable through the Association Account.
Friends are invited to Association’s events but have no voting rights nor can they use the initials ‘FICAG’ after their name. There are a few Honorary Friends within this category who have been rewarded for long service to the Association.
